Description
Thomas "Sevres" Bavaria Three 6" Dessert Plates Hand Painted Grapes, Green with Gold Trim, Coupe Shape This listing is for a set of three hand-painted coupe-shape dessert plates made by Thomas (Bavaria, Germany), on the "Sevres" shape. These plates have a very classic decoration of purple and green grapes in large clusters, with large colorful leaves and stems, on a dark-to-light green background, with a gold band around the rim. The plates measure 6 inches wide, which would be appropriate for dessert plates. All three porcelain plates are in very condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing, and just light signs of scratches or scuffs. There is one small brown spot on one plate, and a couple of very small black specks on one plate; both of these seem to be original to manufacture. The colorful designs are nicely detailed, and the gold trim around the rim shows little wear. The bottom has a green shield mark for Thomas | Sevres | Bavaria. This mark was used between 1908 and 1939. There are also artist signatures on the plates; the one I can make out is (I think) "Harris."
